Arts & Media

Democratizing development requires democratizing access to media.

IAP's Arts & Media Program strengthens the capacity of communities threatened with forced physical or cultural displacement to use video, photo, radio and other media as tools for critical documentation, organizing, and empowerment.  Through this program we catalyze the use of video and photo in advocacy efforts to democratize development.  Learn more about our approach to the politics of Arts & Media in the context of development.  Visit our Photo & Video Gallery to see photos and videos produced by IAP, partners and colleagues.

IAP is currently prioritizing initiatives in Video Advocacy and Photo Advocacy:

Video Advocacy
Video Advocacy is the use of video as a strategic and complementary tool in a human rights advocacy campaign. IAP is honored to have worked with New York-based WITNESS in 2008.
Current initiatives: Asia Video Advocacy Project

Photo Advocacy
Powerful images have a unique ability to convey truth, move people’s hearts, and stimulate greater awareness and catalyze action. IAP uses photos to more effectively convey our work and the realities of our on-the-ground partners—-both to our colleagues and to policy makers.
Current initiatives: IAP Photo Slide Shows, Postcard Advocacy Campaign
